After briefly serving as missionaries to Mongolia, Bob contracted a form of hepatitis. After 8 months of recovery and doctor visits here in the States and Mongolia, we have been informed that we will not be able to live in Mongolia.
Knowing that God wanted us in missions, we began praying that God would direct us to a country that was as dark spiritually as Mongolia. The Lord has opened the door for us to work in Ireland. Upon taking a survey trip to the country, we were shocked at the spiritual deadness of the country.
Ireland is the strongest Roman Catholic country in the world. Over 80% of professing Catholics attend mass.
· The country is made up of:
94% Catholic
3% Church of Ireland
1% Muslim
2% all other (Methodist, Presbyterian, Jewish, etc.)
**0.01% Baptist (Baptist are considered a cult in Ireland)
· Current ministries in Ireland:
Presently, there are less than 20 Bible believing works in the entire country with most having less than 20 people in attendance.
· Population:
Approximately 4.2 million people with Irish (Gaelic) the official language and English the official second language. Most people speak English.
Our Goals:
1. Our first goal is to see people accept Christ as their personal Savior. This is done by developing relationships and conducting Bible studies in our home.
2. Our second goal is to see our Bible study eventually organize itself into a sound, evangelistic, local New Testament Church
3. Our third goal is to see new converts become mature Christians in the faith by one on one discipleship.
